Inheritance Tax
When would inheritance tax apply and how can I make sure we maximize our IHT allowance?
In 2007 changes were made to the way that Inheritance Tax (IHT) is charged. Contrary to popular belief, the IHT allowance was not increased. The changes simply allow couples to use both of their IHT allowances which has always been the case through proper will planning so the chancellor is giving nothing away and the only people who have benefitted are those who fail to plan.
More information on how the new regulations affect individuals in different circumstances can be found on the IPW website.
